The Year Ahead – what’s coming up in 2011

Posted on 7th Jan 2011 by Steve Smith

At BrassNeck Theatre we aim to produce a variety of theatre which is professional, thought‐provoking, challenging, innovative, exciting and fun (to quote our vision statement). This can, and indeed does, take the form of many differing types of theatre and to tick all those boxes we must work hard in both the selection of shows and the manner in which we produce them. Following on from the success of 2010 with acclaimed productions of Footloose and Our House we have an exciting 2011 season ahead of us with some very different productions on the menu. First of all comes The Producers, now cast and rehearsals underway. Whilst some people may wish to rest after the exertions of that production, others will be spending the summer rehearsing for the hilarious and brilliantly written double bill, Bouncers and Shakers, which will be shown as a two‐for‐one night of entertainment with cabaret style seating in September. And whilst those involved in that production are nearing show week, others will be gearing up for the long‐awaited cult‐classic hit musical, Rent.

Rent, Jonathan Larson’s exuberant East Village rock version of Puccini’s opera La Bohѐme will be performed in November, with auditions expected to be held in February or March.

Details for the casting process for above shows will be released in due course, and as previously mentioned the auditions for Rent are due to be held in February. In order for the company to plan effectively for these productions, if you are interested in being in the cast for either or both please register your interest by email to our membership secretary at barbara@barbaramathews.co.uk Full details of the audition process will be published at a later date.

On top of all this there will be the usual varied social calendar to keep everyone entertained between rehearsals!
